We just returned from the most amazing family vacation at Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The all-inclusive resort is located on St Lucie River. There is literally something for everyone in your party including fun activities like water sports, tennis, golf , play pickle ball and flying trapeze lessons, and delicious food. It is the ultimate location for a memorable vacation at a reasonable price. Yes, Club Med Sandpiper is all inclusive resort, actually all Club Med properties are inclusive resorts. It is the perfect resort for sport loving guests with kids of all ages.
Sports are huge at this Club Med, so if your family is the active type, you're in heaven here. The Flying Trapeze Academy is as fun as it sounds -- an authentic chance for adults and kids to take lessons while flying along in a safe harnessed-in environment. The resort's excellent Tennis Academy has daily or weekly programs for both juniors and adults run by skilled coaches.
There are 20 courts, including illuminated ones for night play, and lessons are available to kids ages 4 and up. The resort's Fitness Academy, for those 16 and older, has a nonstop schedule of things like Zumba, Pilates, BODYPUMP and water aerobics. And the Golf Academy, held at the resort's 18-hole course, has group offerings for kids from ages 4 and up, too. There's even a Beach Volleyball Academy here with group lessons included in the all-inclusive rates.
Other included sports include basketball, Ping-Pong and bocce ball. Prepare for some exhausted kids come nighttime, in other words. Everything is included, in best Club Med style, and the instructors and children's club staff are top-notch. Its modern, village-style look extends to the gorgeous spa by L'Occitane, while the accommodations are spread out over seven three-storey buildings grouped along the riverfront.
There are two bars and three restaurants, offering a range of dining options, from the casual to a more formal affair. Kid friendly menus and international dishes are all in the offing and there are high chairs and booster seats for the little ones. There's an outdoor pool as well as a spa area offering treatments . Being active and staying healthy while having fun on our family vacation is important to me. My idea of the perfect travel destination combines luxury and comfort with fun activities, exciting new experiences and an opportunity to relax and unwind while also staying active and staying fit.
When we travel we usually have to plan everything to ensure that everyone is getting to do something they love. At Club Med Sandpiper Bay all we had to do was look at the schedule and chose what activities we wanted to do independently and which ones we wanted to enjoy as a family. But until now, I thought that a perfect family vacation where everyone was happy all the time was impossible to achieve. I had come to terms with the realization that during vacations we usually have a hard time finding a place to eat where everyone is happy and that family vacation means doing kid-friendly activities only. That was until we found Club Med Sandpiper Bay and that is why I wanted to share with you why we think that Club Med Sandpiper Bay is the perfect vacation destination for active families like mine. Lunch and dinner are quite similar, with a range of American foods (burgers, pizza, etc.) and more international meats and seafood dishes and a wonderful range of fresh, European-style salads. There's so much selection at every meal, you'll hardly to be able to try it all in a day, not to mention a week. There's usually a crepe station several times a week, which kids love, and GOs scooping out ice cream elsewhere. The GOs work double duty at night, getting clad in costumes and stepping onto the stage to perform in very entertaining musicals, comedy shows, and more. And while programming is always kid friendly, you can expect some jokes and innuendos that keep adults having fun and rapt with attention, too. Nightly in the main theater, and from there the action rolls right on over Slice Bar, where a DJ spins music and the GOs lead dance steps for an all-ages crowd. The bar usually stays open until 2 a.m., even if the kids head back to their rooms earlier. As is standard across all Club Meds, all of your food and drinks, kids' club activities, tennis instruction, sailboat rentals and even trapeze lessons (yes, there's an onsite flying trapeze) are included in your room rates. But you and the kids will hardly spend any time in your room, for all there is to do across the large property.
What I loved about Club Med Sandpiper Bay was the staff was so fun and inviting. I loved the adults only area pool, it was in a beautiful spot on the river and so peaceful. I do think if I travel to the property with my family they would love the main pool as well. We've traveled around the US to destinations that attract people from around the world but never had we experienced such a multicultural atmosphere in a resort. Club Med caters to people from around the world and most of their staff and G.O.s are from other countries and know more than one language.
At the front desk, we were surprised to find someone from our own home country, Guatemala, and the kids made friends from Finland and France and even learned some words in French at the kids club. We met people from Europe, Canada, and South America and at the restaurant, this international environment was reflected in the food with exciting cuisines from all over the world. It's an all-inclusive resort so all of the activities for kids — sports, art programs, and circus classes — and adults are included in the package price, even golf! Meals and alcoholic beverages are part of the pricing as well.
Everything from the food to the recreation to the rooms and grounds were absolutely superb. The excellent activities were greatly enhanced by a well- trained staff who definitely understands outstanding customer service. I want to especially thank Mike, Trevor, Mason and Adonna in sports and recreation, Katherine and Joaquin at the adult pool and James and Joan at check out. A special shout out to Seth who was an outstanding singer in the evening entertainment. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't eat it for dessert after lunch and dinner most days, too. Oh, sure, it may not be the healthiest thing to eat at the resort but — heck — you're on vacation.
And you can balance all that bread-eating out pretty easily, because Club Med Sandpiper Bay offers plenty of healthy food options throughout the day. Dining options range from a buffet-style restaurant to riverside grill. The sit down restaurant was closed so we ate 3 buffet meals every day. Did the tennis clinics 2 mornings which we enjoyed.
We stayed here 2 nights so we could check this place out for a family vacation. Plenty of closet space with hooks and nooks for clothes. But when the air conditioning was on, it sounded like a train was coming through. There was a master switch and other switches that controlled other lights and I never figured it out.

Each day I looked forward to eating at the main restaurant ready discover what new offerings were available at the buffet from ceviche and sushi to Indian food and an even a gyro bar. The best part was the variety of delicious and appetizing low-calorie healthy options. Club Med Sandpiper Bay is located in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Just a couple of hours drive from Miami and Orlando.
We recently spent three nights at Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, Florida and had the best time ever! Our first visit to a Club Med resort has changed the way we look at family vacations and all-inclusive resorts, and this is no exaggeration. Club Med offers several dining options, a sit down dining room and a buffet, as well as a snack bar that is open all day. The food is good — not gourmet — but fine with kids. This new bar, located close to the theatre and the pool, serves a cool and wide range of alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktails (for children & adults) after a day of sports. While some may think of Club Med purely as the original all-inclusive template for family fun, the Sandpiper Bay property takes activities to another level.
From sunrise to when you go to sleep there is something fun for you to do. The sunrise over the river was so beautiful, our first morning we watch dolphin swimming in the river on our way to breakfast. Then we spent the day switching back and forth between swimming, playing in the splash pad, using the water toys, getting drinks, play mini golf, the trapeze or one of the activities like arts and crafts. You can request a special meal of lobster for an additional fee.
